House Resolution 1987 By: Representatives Bell of the 75th, Berry of the 56th, Holly of the 116th, McQueen of the 61st, Adeyina of the 110th, and others A RESOLUTION Commending the Morehouse College Honors Program for its outstanding academic excellence, leadership development, and service to the community and recognizing its participation in the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus' first Heritage Day of Service during Heritage Weekend; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, the Morehouse College Honors Program is a distinguished four-year comprehensive program dedicated to providing enriched academic and leadership opportunities for students of exceptional intellectual ability, strong motivation, and diverse interests; and WHEREAS, the program has consistently cultivated an environment that promotes scholarly excellence, critical thinking, and a lifelong commitment to learning, equipping its students to become impactful leaders in their communities and beyond; and WHEREAS, through a structured emphasis on leadership and social outreach, the Morehouse College Honors Program integrates service into both its academic curriculum and co-curricular activities from freshman year through graduation, fostering a deep sense of civic responsibility among its scholars; and WHEREAS, the program has demonstrated a strong commitment to global engagement by advancing the internationalization mission of Morehouse College, introducing students early in their academic careers to global studies, international dialogue, and study-abroad opportunities that broaden perspectives and enhance academic pursuits; and WHEREAS, guided by its mission to empower students through a stimulating and supportive learning environment, the Morehouse College Honors Program enables its scholars to achieve their highest potential while excelling in academics, leadership, service, and global awareness; and WHEREAS, the students and leadership of the Morehouse College Honors Program exemplified these values through their meaningful participation in the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus' inaugural Heritage Day of Service during Heritage Weekend, contributing their time, talent, and commitment to uplifting communities across the State of Georgia; and WHEREAS, their service stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of leadership, excellence, and social responsibility that Morehouse College instills in its students, reflecting great credit upon the institution and the State of Georgia. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend the Morehouse College Honors Program for its outstanding contributions to academic excellence, leadership development, and community service and recognize its impactful participation in the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus' first Heritage Day of Service during Heritage Weekend. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the Morehouse College Honors Program, the public, and the press.
