House Resolution 1990

A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Roberto Vargas; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Roberto Vargas has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the important role he has played in the development and education of young athletes; and

WHEREAS, Roberto is the founder of La Liga Lawrenceville, a youth and adult recreational and community soccer league based in Lawrenceville, Georgia, and Gwinnett County; and

WHEREAS, founded in February 1998, the league currently operates with over 160 teams for both adults and children; and

WHEREAS, La Liga Lawrenceville is the most recognized and active soccer league for Spanish speakers in Gwinnett County; and

WHEREAS, involvement in athletics helps build confidence, resilience, and discipline, skills that extend far beyond the playing field; and

WHEREAS, La Liga Lawrenceville has provided access to community based, athletic programs that strengthen social connections and promote a sense of belonging and unity; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that La Liga Lawrenceville and Roberto Vargas are commended for the indelible impact that the league has made on the State of Georgia.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend Roberto Vargas and extend their sincere best wishes for his continued health, happiness, and success. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Roberto Vargas.
