A RESOLUTION

Honoring the life and memory of Mr. Right Reverend Gregory Karl Davis; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mr. Right Reverend Gregory Karl Davis passed away on June 13, 2021, following a battle with glioblastoma; and

WHEREAS, he sang with the Atlanta Boys Choir from 1967–1970 and the Men's Alumni Choir from 2009–2021; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Right Reverend Gregory Karl Davis was the founding bishop of the Universal Orthodox Diocese of Georgia, which combined elements of Ethiopian Coptic, Episcopalian, and Swedenborgian traditions; and

WHEREAS, he was ordained and focused his ministry on providing medicinal, therapeutic, and spiritual uses of cannabis; and

WHEREAS, for roughly eight years prior to his death, he was a prominent lobbyist advocating for patients right to experience the spiritual healing KNH provides through a sacred anointing oil; and

WHEREAS, during his tenure lobbying at the Georgia State Capitol, he was referred to by some beloved legislators as "The Mad Monk"; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Right Reverend Gregory Karl Davis will long be remembered for his faith, leadership, community dedication, and, more importantly, his advocacy for medical cannabis to give relief to those who are suffering.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Mr. Right Reverend Gregory Karl Davis and express their deepest and most since regret at his passing. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the family of Mr. Right Reverend Gregory Karl Davis.
