House Resolution 2009 By: Representatives Martin of the 49th, Dubnik of the 29th, Anderson of the 10th, Lumsden of the 12th, Cheokas of the 151st, and others A RESOLUTION Commending Danny Hall; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, Danny Hall began his exemplary coaching career as a graduate assistant at his alma mater, Miami University, from 1978 to 1979, and he continued to develop his expertise over eight seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Michigan; and WHEREAS, he earned his first head coaching position at Kent State University, serving from 1988 to 1993 and leading the program to two Mid-American Conference championships while receiving recognition as a two-time Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year; and WHEREAS, in 1994, Danny Hall became the head coach at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where over 32 seasons he built one of the most successful programs in collegiate baseball history and compiled a remarkable 1,244-676 record; and WHEREAS, under his leadership, the Georgia Tech baseball program captured eight Atlantic Coast Conference regular-season championships and five Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament championships, earned 25 NCAA Tournament appearances, and advanced to three College World Series appearances; and WHEREAS, his commitment to the development of student-athletes is evidenced by his mentorship of 149 Georgia Tech players who were selected in the Major League Baseball Draft a total of 166 times, as well as 15 Georgia Tech players who earned Academic All-America recognition a combined 19 times; and WHEREAS, throughout his distinguished career, Danny Hall amassed an overall head coaching record of 1,452-793-1, ranking ninth in NCAA history for career victories; and WHEREAS, his exceptional leadership and impact on the game have been recognized through numerous honors, including his induction into the American Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame in 2023 and his designation as an honorary alumnus of the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2024; and WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this exemplary individual be appropriately honored during this special time. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Danny Hall for his decades of exceptional service in collegiate baseball as well as extend best wishes for future health and happiness. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Danny Hall.
