House Resolution 2013 By: Representative Scott of the 76th A RESOLUTION Honoring the life and legacy of Sister Rosa Lee Brown Thompson; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, Sister Rosa Lee Brown Thompson was born on January 13, 1933, in Tallahassee, Florida, to the late Thomas Brown and Lola Brim Brown; and WHEREAS, she was the youngest of four children and was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Eloise Brown Branton, Thomas Brown, and Willie Brown; and WHEREAS, Sister Rosa Lee Brown Thompson was raised in northeast Leon County, where she attended public schools and developed a strong work ethic that guided her throughout her life; and WHEREAS, she dedicated many years of her life to honest and honorable work as a housekeeper, embodying dignity, perseverance, and quiet strength; and WHEREAS, she found joy in simple pleasures, including playing card games and spending time with loved ones; and WHEREAS, she was united in holy matrimony to Joseph "Joe" Thompson, and together they built a loving family and raised two daughters, Willie Mae Brooks and Davonski Cannon; and WHEREAS, a woman of deep and abiding faith, Sister Rosa Lee Brown Thompson confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior and served faithfully as a devoted member of St. Peter Primitive Baptist Church; and WHEREAS, her life was a testament to faith, family, service, and resilience, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew and loved her; and WHEREAS, on Thursday, November 9, 2023, Sister Rosa Lee Brown Thompson entered into eternal rest, leaving behind a legacy of love that continues through her daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends; and WHEREAS, her memory will forever be cherished, and her legacy will continue to inspire generations to come. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body honor and celebrate the life of Sister Rosa Lee Brown Thompson and extend their deepest condolences to her family and loved ones. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the family of Sister Rosa Lee Brown Thompson.
