WHEREAS, Kennesaw State University has become one of the largest public universities in the State of Georgia, and it continues to uphold a tradition of academic and athletic excellence; and WHEREAS, under the inspired leadership of third-year Head Coach Antoine Pettway, the Owls men's basketball team ascended to the pinnacle of Conference USA play in only its second year competing in the league; and WHEREAS, the Owls defeated Louisiana Tech with a score of 71-60 on March 14, 2026, at VBC Propst Arena in Huntsville, Alabama; and WHEREAS, upon capturing their first-ever Conference USA title, the Owls finished the season with 21 victories, the second-most wins in school history; and WHEREAS, with this championship victory, Kennesaw State became the first Conference USA institution to win championship games in both football and men's basketball in the same year; and WHEREAS, the Owls earned an automatic bid to the 2026 NCAA Tournament as the No. 14 seed in the West Region, marking only the second trip to March Madness in program history; and WHEREAS, this season stands as a testament to the dedication and vision of Coach Pettway, the skill and determination of KSU men's basketball, and the passionate support of Owl Nation.
