A RESOLUTION
Honoring "The Atlantan," a signature cocktail inspired by Atlanta, and recognizing the contributions of Keyatta Mincey Parker, Tiffanie Barriere, Thandi Walton, A Sip of Paradise Garden, and Rémy Martin; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, the State of Georgia takes pride in celebrating the rich cultural, culinary, and entrepreneurial achievements of its residents; and
WHEREAS, Atlanta, Georgia, a vibrant city known for its Southern roots, innovation, and dynamic cultural energy, has inspired the creation of "The Atlantan," a signature cocktail that reflects the city's culinary creativity and community spirit; and
WHEREAS, this cocktail was masterfully crafted by renowned mixologists and beverage experts Keyatta Mincey Parker, Tiffanie Barriere, and Thandi Walton, whose talent, dedication, and creativity have brought recognition to Atlanta's hospitality and culinary community; and
WHEREAS, Keyatta Mincey Parker is the founder and executive director of A Sip of Paradise Garden, a nonprofit organization providing wellness, career development, and community support to hospitality professionals, helping combat industry burnout and promoting sustainable practices; and
WHEREAS, Tiffanie Barriere, an award-winning bartender, educator, and historian, has advanced the craft of mixology while advocating for equity, inclusivity, and mentorship in the beverage industry; and
WHEREAS, Thandi Walton, a Smithsonian award-winning mixologist and Head of Beverage at Thompson Atlanta Buckhead, is celebrated for her innovative garden-to-glass cocktail designs that reflect both her Zimbabwean heritage and Atlanta's vibrant culinary culture; and
WHEREAS, "The Atlantan" incorporates Rémy Martin as its base spirit, a choice that resonates culturally and philosophically with Atlanta's identity, reflecting the city's history, reinvention, and aspiration while also providing a sensory richness and symbolic depth that honors Atlanta's past, present, and future; and
WHEREAS, the creation of this cocktail represents a collaboration between hospitality leaders, beverage partners, and community organizations, highlighting Atlanta's leadership in culinary innovation, tourism, and cultural celebration; and
WHEREAS, "The Atlantan" and its inspiration not only honor Atlanta's rich traditions and dynamic energy but also support community wellness and development through programs at A Sip of Paradise Garden, ensuring that the city's hospitality professionals have a space to heal, grow, and thrive.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body honor "The Atlantan"; commend the extraordinary contributions of Keyatta Mincey Parker, Tiffanie Barriere, and Thandi Walton; recognize the positive impact of A Sip of Paradise Garden; and acknowledge the cultural and symbolic significance of Rémy Martin as the spirit that anchors this cocktail.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the press.
