By: Representatives Martin of the 49th, Jones of the 47th, Jones of the 25th, Cox of the 28th,
and Hilton of the 48th
A RESOLUTION
Commending Loni Gipson of Alpharetta High School for winning the 2025 GHSA 6A
Individual Track and Field State Championship in the high jump; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Loni Gipson, a senior at Alpharetta High School, has established and
maintained a proud tradition of excellence with equal emphases on character and academics;
and
WHEREAS, this superlative athlete has completed a triumphant season of field competition
that included several prestigious invitationals and meets; and
WHEREAS, excellent skill, superior fitness, and extraordinary resilience made Loni Gipson
a spectacular jumper to observe throughout the season, and as a fitting finale to her
remarkable 2025 campaign, Loni Gipson captured the state championship in the high jump
with a jump of five feet, six inches; and
WHEREAS, the phenomenal performance of Loni Gipson is a clear indication of her
outstanding athletic ability, her dedication and hard work, and her fighting spirit; her superb
discipline and commitment to high jumping; and the astute direction of Head Coach Answa
"AJ" Merine; and
WHEREAS, as this outstanding athlete earned her well-deserved reputation for excellence
by performing with confidence, grit, and precision over months of training, conditioning, and
competition, it is abundantly proper to call her a champion.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
the members of this body commend Loni Gipson of Alpharetta High School for winning the
2025 GHSA 6A Individual Track and Field State Championship in the high jump and extend
their most sincere best wishes for continued success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Loni
Gipson.
