A RESOLUTION

Honoring the life and memory of John Baptist Barranco of Dunwoody, Georgia; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, John Baptist Barranco was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, veteran, and community leader who passed away on February 12, 2026, at the age of 92, leaving behind a legacy of service, faith, and generosity; and

WHEREAS, born in Chicago, Illinois, on July 13, 1933, to immigrant parents, Mr. Barranco lived a life defined by hard work, integrity, and dedication, serving his country as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army and building a distinguished 41-year career as a sales executive; and

WHEREAS, after relocating to Georgia, Mr. Barranco became a founding and active member of All Saints Catholic Church in Dunwoody, where he faithfully served for more than four decades, including leadership roles such as Pastoral Board President and active participation in numerous ministries; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Barranco was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus Council #11402, contributing countless hours of volunteer service and leadership to support charitable initiatives and strengthen the parish community; and

WHEREAS, among his many contributions, Mr. Barranco demonstrated extraordinary dedication to the All Saints Fish Fry, a beloved annual Lenten tradition that brings together families and community members while raising funds for charitable causes, serving thousands of meals each season and embodying the spirit of fellowship and service; and

WHEREAS, in recognition of his years of tireless service and leadership, the All Saints Fish Fry kitchen was dedicated in honor of John Barranco, a lasting tribute to his commitment to faith, community, and volunteerism; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Barranco will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, his deep faith, and the countless lives he touched through his generosity, mentorship, and service to others; and

WHEREAS, his legacy continues to inspire the Dunwoody community and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body honor the life and memory of John Baptist Barranco and recognize his outstanding contributions to his church, his community, and the State of Georgia. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the family of John Baptist Barranco.
