A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending the 2026 Heart of Community Award of Honor recipient Ghee Wilson; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Ghee Wilson has served as a Special Agent with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation; and
WHEREAS, Ghee has given his time and leadership to organizations that directly impact vulnerable populations with visible, hands-on community engagement; and
WHEREAS, Ghee has served on the Floyd County Planning Commission; as Past President and Board Member of the Northwest Georgia Sexual Assault Center; as Past President of the Coosa Valley Fraternal Order of Police; as Board Member of the Community Criminal Justice Foundation; as Board Member of the Salvation Army; and as part of the 2017 SPLOST Citizens Advisory Committee; and
WHEREAS, Ghee has participated in the Rome Celebrity Dance Challenge; 2025 Rome/Floyd County Commission on Children and Youth "Are You Smarter Than a 3rd Grader"; the Floyd Against Drugs Murder Mystery Dinner 2021-present; as the Grand Marshall Walk A Mile in Her Shoes 2022; and the 2018 Prom King for the Night to Remember Adult Prom - Alzheimer's Association benefit; and
WHEREAS, Ghee has served as a Community Judge for the Floyd County Technology Competition; coordinated Shop with a Cop in Floyd County for 10 years; is an active member of Rome Georgia Cares; is a Read Across America Volunteer; and assisted in raising money for a local family to get a home at Christmas; and
WHEREAS, Ghee Wilson has been the recipient of the following awards: 2023 Outstanding Citizen Award from Lindale VFW; two-time recipient of the Joe Adams; Community Service Award from the Floyd County Sheriff's Office; and the 2021 GBI Deputy Directors Award for Investigative Excellence; and
WHEREAS, Special Agent Ghee Wilson has demonstrated that service is not simply part of his profession, it is central to who he is.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize Ghee Wilson for his outstanding dedication to the community, commend him as a recipient of the 2026 Heart of Community Award of Honor, and extend the most sincere best wishes for continued success. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Ghee Wilson.
