House Resolution 2113

A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Reverend Dr. William E. Thomas Jr.; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. William E. Thomas Jr. has demonstrated his commitment to
teaching the Gospel, witnessing Christ through word and deed, and addressing the physical,
psychological, intellectual, and spiritual needs of others; and
WHEREAS, on April 9, 2026, Reverend Dr. William E. Thomas Jr. will be inducted into the
Morehouse College Board of Preachers during the 41st Annual Martin Luther King Jr.
College of Ministries and Lay Ceremony; and
WHEREAS, his vision and direction have helped New Bethel A.M.E. Church grow in size
and influence, uplifting the community like the light of Bethlehem and serving as a spiritual
leader and place for fellowship; and
WHEREAS, over the past years leading New Bethel A.M.E. Church, Reverend Dr. William
E. Thomas Jr. has established numerous programs and workshops which have improved the
spiritual and educational growth of the church and the surrounding community; and
WHEREAS, whether the task is preparing a sermon, visiting the sick, counseling the
troubled, baptizing a new believer, or acting as a theologian, educator, administrator, or
humanitarian, Reverend Dr. William E. Thomas Jr. serves as a shining example of God's
righteous path; and
WHEREAS, the unmatched spiritual assistance offered by Reverend Dr. William E. Thomas
Jr. is a source of strength and direction for persons in all walks of life; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper to recognize the outstanding accomplishments
of the dynamic Christian ministry of this devout and pious man.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
the members of this body recognize and commend Reverend Dr. William E. Thomas Jr. upon
the grand occasion of his induction into the Morehouse College Board of Preachers and
extend best wishes for many more years of successful fellowship and leadership.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to
Reverend Dr. William E. Thomas Jr.
