of the 77th
A RESOLUTION
Commemorating the 130th anniversary of the incorporation of the City of College Park; and
for other purposes.
WHEREAS, the land that encompasses the City of College Park was originally the ancestral
home of the Muskogee (Creek) Nation, whose deep connection to this terrain established a
legacy of stewardship that remains a cornerstone of the community's heritage; and
WHEREAS, the City of College Park is uniquely positioned at the headwaters of the Flint
River, marking this community as a vital guardian of one of Georgia's most essential natural
resources as it begins its journey toward the Gulf; and
WHEREAS, the mid-19th century arrival of the Atlanta and West Point Railroad transformed
the landscape into a bustling corridor of commerce, with the Main Street train depot serving
as the central engine for the city's early development and economic growth; and
WHEREAS, the community reached a historic milestone when it was formally incorporated
on December 16, 1891, beginning its official journey with a pioneering population of
approximately 600 residents; and
WHEREAS, the city's identity was further elevated by the establishment of the College Park
Historic District, which stands today as one of the largest urban historic districts in the State
of Georgia, meticulously preserving over 850 buildings that reflect the timeless architectural

City of College Park and extend best wishes to each of its residents for future health,
happiness, and success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the
public and the press.
