A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Mrs. Nathalie Huffman Griffin, retired educator, on the
occasion of her 60th wedding anniversary; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, on June 15, 1966, in Columbus, Georgia, Representative Floyd L. Griffin Jr.
and Mrs. Nathalie Huffman Griffin were united in holy matrimony, beginning a remarkable
journey of love, faith, and partnership that has endured for six decades; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Nathalie Huffman Griffin, a native of Birmingham, Alabama, is a proud
graduate of Tuskegee University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science, and she has
distinguished herself as a dedicated educator, shaping the minds and futures of countless
students throughout her career; and
WHEREAS, as a retired educator, she has demonstrated a lifelong commitment to learning,
excellence, and the advancement of others, leaving a lasting legacy in the field of education;
and
WHEREAS, throughout 60 years of marriage, she has exemplified grace, strength, wisdom,
and unwavering devotion as a wife, mother, grandmother, and guiding force within her
family and community; and
WHEREAS, she has been a steadfast and loving partner to her husband, supporting him
faithfully through his distinguished military service, business endeavors, and decades of
public service to the citizens of Georgia; and
WHEREAS, together they have built a strong and loving family, including their sons, Brian
Griffin and his wife, Terra Griffin, and Eric Griffin and his wife, Susan Griffin; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Griffin has been a devoted and nurturing grandmother to Jamal Griffin,
Brandon Griffin, Bakari Griffin, and Braxton Griffin and his wife, Angelina Griffin, and has
lovingly extended her care and guidance to her goddaughter, Kimberly Simmons and her
husband, Eric Simmons, as well as to her family, including her sister-in-law, Delbra Griffin
Waller; and
WHEREAS, as a grandmother, she has nourished her grandchildren with warmth, patience,
and encouragement while faithfully supporting them through important life milestones,
leaving an enduring imprint of love and guidance upon their lives; and
WHEREAS, a woman of deep and abiding faith, Mrs. Nathalie Huffman Griffin has served
as an adult Sunday School teacher, sharing wisdom, teaching the Word, and helping to
strengthen the spiritual foundation of countless individuals; and
WHEREAS, her life stands as a shining example of love, service, faith, and commitment, and
her contributions have enriched not only her family but also her church, her students, and her
community; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments and
enduring legacy of this remarkable woman be appropriately recognized.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
the members of this body commend Mrs. Nathalie Huffman Griffin for her extraordinary life
and legacy and extend their warmest congratulations to her and Representative Floyd L.
Griffin Jr. on the joyous occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Mrs.
Nathalie Huffman Griffin.
