A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Dorothy Glisson; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Dorothy Glisson has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of her time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of her community and state, as evidenced dramatically by her many years of superlative service to Screven County; and
WHEREAS, Dorothy Glisson served with honor as a Screven County commissioner from 1995 to 1998 and was selected as vice chair of the Screven County Board of Commissioners in 1998; and
WHEREAS, she has additionally served as president of the Sylvania Rotary Club from 2005 to 2006, member of the Screven County Rotary and the Screven County Chamber of Commerce, and as chairman of the Screven County Community Collaborative; and
WHEREAS, her dedication to regional and community progress is further evidenced by her service on the Coastal Georgia Regional Development Center Restructuring Committee, the Board of the Regional Commission for Screven County, the Screven County Hospital Authority, and the Ogeechee Technical College Board; and
WHEREAS, her outstanding contributions have been recognized with numerous honors, including the City of Sylvania Above & Beyond Volunteer Award in 2005; the Frances Duncan Award on December 10, 2019; the Agnes Tebeau Award; and designation as Screven County Citizen of the Year; and
WHEREAS, this distinguished gentlewoman has given inspiration to many through her high ideals, morals, and deep concern for her fellow citizens, and she possesses the vast wisdom which only comes through experience and the strength of character which is achieved through overcoming the many challenges of life; and
WHEREAS, she is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately honored.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend Dorothy Glisson for her many exceptional years of service on behalf of her fellow citizens as well as extend the most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Dorothy Glisson.
