House Resolution 2132 By: Representatives Smith of the 70th and Bonner of the 73rd A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Elm Street Elementary School upon its 70th anniversary; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, a proper quality education for the young people of this state is the single most important objective of the General Assembly; and WHEREAS, founded in 1956, Elm Street Elementary School initially taught first through sixth grade before transitioning to a primary school for grades kindergarten through grade three in 1973; and WHEREAS, in 1988, Elm Street Elementary School made the final adjustment to the kindergarten through fifth grade structure in adherence with the regulations in the Georgia Quality Basic Education Act, which it has since upheld; and WHEREAS, the school's long history has made it a staple in the surrounding community, and it has remained at its initial location on Elm Street since its founding; and WHEREAS, the staff and faculty of Elm Street Elementary School dedicate innumerable hours of their time and energy toward the well-being of the community, building upon the school's exemplary legacy of excellence; and WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this exceptional academic institution be appropriately honored during this special time. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend Elm Street Elementary School upon the grand occasion of its 70th anniversary and extend best wishes for continued success. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Elm Street Elementary School.
