A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and honoring Principal Denise Showell of Hull Middle School in Duluth, recipient of the National Blue Ribbon School Award; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, on September 23, 2024, the United States Department of Education named Hull Middle School the recipient of the 2024 National Blue Ribbon School Award, a prestigious honor award based on student academic achievement measures and progress toward closing achievement gaps; and

WHEREAS, Principal Denise Showell has displayed exemplary leadership and devotion to her students' education as well as modeled passion for teaching for all future educators in Georgia; and

WHEREAS, Principal Denise Showell has spent the last 38 years in the education field and has been at the helm at Hull Middle School for 20 years, where her guidance and vision have fostered a culture of excellence; and

WHEREAS, under her leadership, Hull Middle School has received the Governors Platinum and Silver Awards in recognition of outstanding academic performance; and

WHEREAS, Principal Denise Showell has been a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority for 39 years, exemplifying a lifelong commitment to service and community engagement; and

WHEREAS, such achievements contribute to the advancement of Gwinnett County and underscore the importance of supporting educators, mentorship, and commitment to quality training; and

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia proudly recognizes individuals whose tireless efforts have a lasting impact on the lives of students and the broader community.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and honor Principal Denise Showell for her career-long achievements and extend best wishes for her and the Gwinnett County Public School System's continued success in all future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Principal Denise Showell.
