House Resolution 236 By: Representatives Gambill of the 15th and Scoggins of the 14th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Linda Ford Kellogg on her outstanding service; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, Linda Ford Kellogg has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of her time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of her community and state, as evidenced dramatically by her 35 years of superlative service as chairperson of the MLK Holiday Weekend festivities in Bartow County, Georgia; and WHEREAS, her professional career spans a wide range of important roles, including positions at Cass High School, Cass #2 Elementary School, the District Attorney's Office, the Governor's Office, the Adult Probation Office, and Hickory Log Vocational School, as well as nearly sixteen years in banking; and WHEREAS, throughout her distinguished tenure in education, she dedicated 22 years of service to Cartersville City Schools, during which time she served as attendance director, secretary, and administrative assistant at Cartersville High School; and WHEREAS, following her retirement, she was asked to return to Cartersville High School as a consultant handling student services, where she continued to support students and faculty for an additional ten years while serving on multiple school committees, including the School Council and Leadership Team; and WHEREAS, Linda Ford Kellogg has additionally served as an issuing officer for youth employment certificates with the Georgia Department of Labor since 2006 and was the first African American mediator in Bartow County; and WHEREAS, she has further played a pivotal role in local elections since 1971 and made history as the first African American to serve as elections manager for the Zena Drive Precinct in Bartow County; and WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately honored. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend Linda Ford Kellogg for her efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated service to her community; congratulate her upon the grand occasion of her retirement; and extend the most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Linda Ford Kellogg.
