A RESOLUTION

Commending Gary Minyard, recipient of the 2024 Pioneers in Education Award; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Gary Minyard, a retired agriculture teacher and dedicated Franklin County Board of Education member, has been honored as a recipient of the 2024 Pioneers in Education Award in recognition of his exceptional contributions and years of service; and

WHEREAS, a native of Franklin County, he earned his associate's degree from Emmanuel College and obtained his bachelor's, master's, and specialist degrees from the University of Georgia, establishing a strong foundation for his lifelong career in education; and

WHEREAS, after teaching for a year in Wilkes County, he returned to Franklin County and dedicated 39 years of exemplary service to the Franklin County School System, instructing at both the middle and high school levels and retiring in 2014; and

WHEREAS, he played a pivotal role in developing one of the most successful agricultural programs in the State of Georgia, leading the Franklin County FFA Chapter to state and national recognition as well as advising numerous state officers and national winners; and

WHEREAS, his leadership extended beyond the classroom through his service with the Georgia Vocational Association, earning him the National Association of Agricultural Educators Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his lasting impact on agricultural education; and

WHEREAS, in addition to his service on the Franklin County Board of Education, he is an active member of the Hart EMC Foundation Board, Gideons International, and Zidon Baptist Church, where he serves as a deacon; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this outstanding individual be appropriately honored during this special time.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Gary Minyard, recipient of the 2024 Pioneers in Education Award, for his remarkable contributions to education, his lifelong dedication to agriculture, and his continued service to the Franklin County community as well as extend best wishes for future health and happiness.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Gary Minyard.
