## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A Georgia House resolution congratulates former Atlanta Braves pitching coach Leo Mazzone on his induction into the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame.

### Plain-language summary

This resolution is a ceremonial statement from the Georgia House of Representatives honoring Leo Mazzone, the Atlanta Braves' pitching coach from 1990 to 2005, on his selection for the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame's Class of 2025. The induction ceremony was set for February 21 and 22, 2025, in Macon, Georgia.
The resolution recounts Mazzone's career highlights, including mentoring Hall of Fame pitchers Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, and John Smoltz, helping the Braves win 14 consecutive division titles and the 1995 World Series, and his earlier induction into the Braves Hall of Fame in 2022. It does not create any new law, spending, or state program. It simply directs the Clerk of the House to prepare a copy of the resolution for delivery to Mazzone.

### What it does

- Formally congratulates Leo Mazzone on his induction into the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame.
- Recites his career record as the Atlanta Braves' pitching coach from 1990 to 2005.
- Directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to prepare and distribute a copy of the resolution to Mazzone.
- Creates no changes to Georgia law, funding, or state programs.

### Who it affects

The resolution directly names Leo Mazzone as its honoree. It also involves the Clerk of the House of Representatives, who must prepare and send him a copy, and indirectly reflects on the Atlanta Braves organization and the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame.

### Why it matters

This is a symbolic honor rather than a policy change. It has no effect on Georgia residents' daily lives, taxes, or legal rights; its practical effect is limited to publicly recognizing Mazzone's baseball career and providing him a keepsake copy of the resolution.

### Key provisions

- The resolution's preamble ('whereas' clauses) details Mazzone's coaching record, including 14 consecutive division titles and the 1995 World Series championship.
- The resolved clause has the House of Representatives congratulate Mazzone on his Georgia Sports Hall of Fame induction.
- A further resolved clause directs the Clerk of the House to make a copy available for distribution to Mazzone.
