House Resolution 280 By: Representatives Davis of the 87th, O’Steen of the 169th, Newton of the 127th, Schofield of the 63rd, Barnes of the 86th, and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing February 19, 2025, as Nurses Day at the state capitol; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, the more than 170,000 registered nurses in Georgia represent the state's largest health care profession and are vital to the medical well-being of our citizens; and WHEREAS, professional nursing has proven to be an indispensable component of the safe, high quality care of hospitalized patients; and WHEREAS, professional nurses are also vital to the outpatient care of patients, and the renewed emphasis on access to primary and preventative care in recent years will require better utilization of our state's registered nursing resources; and WHEREAS, the aging of the American population, further reduction of health care options in rural settings, and growth of home health care services have led to a greater than ever demand for registered nursing services, and more qualified registered nurses will be needed in the future to meet the increasingly complex needs of health care consumers in Georgia; and WHEREAS, the Georgia Nurses Association supports and advocates for the many ways in which registered nurses of all levels of education and training strive to provide safe and high quality patient care and maps out ways to improve our health care system. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize February 19, 2025, as Nurses Day at the state capitol and commend the men and women of our nursing workforce for their strength, leadership, and courage in their willingness to find meaning in something greater than themselves. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the press.
