House Resolution 282 By: Representatives Martin of the 49th and Barrett of the 24th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending the 2024 Technical College System of Georgia award winners; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) stands as a beacon of excellence in technical education, contributing significantly to workforce development and economic growth in our state; and WHEREAS, the Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL) program annually recognizes outstanding technical college students across the state, celebrating their academic achievements, leadership, and service to their communities; and WHEREAS, Nicholas Rucker, a physical therapist assistant student from Athens Technical College, has been named the 2024 GOAL winner, embodying the dedication, skill, and passion for excellence that the award seeks to honor; and WHEREAS, the Rick Perkins Award for Excellence in Technical Instruction is bestowed upon technical college instructors who demonstrate exceptional teaching abilities, making significant contributions to the education of Georgia's skilled workforce; and WHEREAS, Sharoko Farley, an instructor from Central Georgia Technical College, has been distinguished as the 2024 recipient of the Rick Perkins Award, showcasing exemplary dedication to student success and instructional excellence; and WHEREAS, the Dinah Culbreath Wayne Exceptional Adult Georgian in Literacy Education (EAGLE) Award recognizes extraordinary achievements within the state's adult education programs, highlighting individuals who have overcome challenges to pursue lifelong learning and literacy; and WHEREAS, Patria Brown, recognized for exceptional academic achievements within her local education program at Cobb County School District, has been honored as TCSG's 2024 Adult Education Student of the Year, reflecting the perseverance, hard work, and commitment to personal and professional growth that the EAGLE Award celebrates; and WHEREAS, the Outstanding Adult Education Teacher of the Year award acknowledges the vital role of educators in adult learning, recognizing those who provide inspiration, support, and high-quality instruction to their students; and WHEREAS, Rhea Brashear, an adult education instructor from Southern Regional Technical College, has been awarded the 2024 Outstanding Adult Education Teacher of the Year, demonstrating exceptional teaching and mentoring abilities that contribute to the success and empowerment of adult learners. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend the 2024 Technical College System of Georgia award winners and do hereby congratulate Nicholas Rucker, Sharoko Farley, Patria Brown, and Rhea Brashear on their prestigious achievements. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to Nicholas Rucker, Sharoko Farley, Patria Brown, and Rhea Brashear.
