## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A House resolution recognizes Cobb County adult learner Patria Brown as Georgia's 2024 Exceptional Adult Georgian in Literacy Education (EAGLE) award winner, honoring her academic achievement.

### Plain-language summary

This resolution from the Georgia House of Representatives congratulates Patria Brown, who was named the statewide recipient of the Technical College System of Georgia's 2024 EAGLE award. The award recognizes adult learners who have shown exceptional achievement in adult education classes, and Brown was chosen from among 25 delegates representing local adult education programs across the state.
The resolution notes that Brown, a Cobb County School District student, will serve as an ambassador for adult education in Georgia, representing nearly 22,000 students statewide who benefit from these programs. It directs the Clerk of the House to prepare a copy of the resolution for distribution to Brown. The resolution does not change any Georgia law; it is a ceremonial statement of congratulations.

### What it does

- Formally congratulates and commends Patria Brown for winning the 2024 EAGLE award from the Technical College System of Georgia.
- States that Brown was chosen from among 25 EAGLE delegates for her academic achievement in adult education.
- Recognizes Brown as an ambassador representing nearly 22,000 adult education students across Georgia.
- Directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to prepare a copy of the resolution for distribution to Brown.

### Who it affects

This resolution directly names Patria Brown, a Cobb County School District adult education student. It also references the Technical College System of Georgia, which runs the EAGLE program, and Georgia's roughly 22,000 adult education students statewide, though it creates no legal obligations for any of them.

### Why it matters

The resolution has no legal or funding effect; it is a symbolic honor. Its significance is limited to publicly recognizing one adult learner's achievement and drawing attention to Georgia's adult education programs and the students they serve.

### Key provisions

- The preamble explains Brown won the statewide 2024 EAGLE award, a Technical College System of Georgia program marking its 31st year recognizing adult learners.
- The resolved clause formally congratulates and commends Brown for her achievements and extends best wishes for continued success.
- A further resolved clause directs the Clerk of the House to prepare a copy of the resolution for delivery to Brown.
