By: Representatives Sainz of the 180th, Burchett of the 176th, Efstration of the 104th, Dempsey
of the 13th, Williams of the 168th, and others
A RESOLUTION
Congratulating The Woodbine Opry upon its 25th anniversary; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, The Woodbine Opry will celebrate 25 years of old-time music at the beautifully
renovated "Old School" in Woodbine, Georgia, during the week of February 10, 2025; and
WHEREAS, the celebration will begin on Monday, February 10, with a tribute to the original
founders of The Woodbine Opry, featuring songs and stories reminiscent of its early days;
and
WHEREAS, on Thursday, February 13, the popular band Satilla Blue will perform, packing
the Old School Auditorium with a full floor of dancers; and
WHEREAS, the celebration will continue on Friday, February 14, with a bluegrass and
Gospel jam session, followed by an electric country music dance night on Saturday, February
15, to conclude the festivities; and
WHEREAS, although the Old School Auditorium seats fewer than 200 patrons, The
Woodbine Opry's livestream and social media platforms reach 15,000 to 20,000 views each
month from across the country and around the world; and
WHEREAS, as one of the longest-running free live music venues in the State of Georgia,
The Woodbine Opry has provided weekly performances of bluegrass, Gospel, and classic
country music at the Old Woodbine School for 25 years; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkable establishment be
appropriately honored during this special time.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
the members of this body congratulate The Woodbine Opry upon the grand occasion of its
25th anniversary as well as extend best wishes for a jam-packed week of joyous musical
celebration.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to The
Woodbine Opry.
