A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Collie Greenwood; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, a 45-year veteran of the transit industry, Collie Greenwood joined MARTA in July 2019 as Chief of Bus Operations and Urban Planning, was appointed Deputy General Manager of Operations and Urban Planning in 2020, and was named General Manager and Chief Executive Officer by the MARTA Board of Directors in October 2022; and
WHEREAS, he is currently leading MARTA's largest expansion and modernization initiative since its founding over 40 years ago, including cutting-edge advancements such as implementing Communications-Based Train Control for improved rail efficiency, expanding zero-emissions bus rapid transit lines, and modernizing fare payment systems to enhance accessibility and customer convenience; and
WHEREAS, under Collie Greenwood's leadership, MARTA has earned the Outstanding Public Transportation System Award from the American Public Transportation Association for remarkable leadership, systemwide excellence, and serving as an exemplary role model for other North American transit agencies; and
WHEREAS, prior to joining MARTA, he served as Chief Service Officer for the Toronto Transit Commission, North America's third-largest transit system, where he oversaw bus, subway, streetcar, and accessible transit services as well as station operations and transit security; and
WHEREAS, Collie Greenwood is an active member of the American Public Transportation Association, serving on its Executive Committee and Board of Directors as well as Chair of its Standards Development Oversight Council; and
WHEREAS, Collie Greenwood continues to drive MARTA's mission forward, leading ambitious infrastructure improvements, modernizing transit services, and positioning the system to meet the growing transportation needs of metro Atlanta.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend Collie Greenwood for his effective, efficient, and dedicated leadership as well as extend best wishes for continued success. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Collie Greenwood.
