By: Representatives Burnough of the 77th, Flournoy of the 74th, Bell of the 75th, and Scott of
the 76th
A RESOLUTION
Commending the Clayton County Government, the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce,
and the ATL Airport Chamber of Commerce and recognizing February 6, 2025, as Clayton
County Day at the state capitol; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Clayton County provides a supportive environment for business and industry,
and it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding leadership and diligence
demonstrated by both the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce and the ATL Airport
Chamber be appropriately recognized as both organizations influence growth and perpetuate
the thriving of this superlative county; and
WHEREAS, the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce, founded in 1953, is a
member-based nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting business growth and enhancing
the quality of life through economic prosperity; and
WHEREAS, the ATL Airport Chamber, founded over 72 years ago, is dedicated to the
promotion, development, and growth of business and professional activities within the airport
area; and
WHEREAS, the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce and the ATL Airport Chamber
unite business and professional individuals by empowering local growth, improving business
to business networking, and helping to strengthen our community; and
WHEREAS, the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce and the ATL Airport Chamber
continue to provide leadership and educational opportunities with their programs: Elevate
ATL, a leadership training academy created to develop community leaders who inspire,
promote, and champion the economic development of our region, and Leadership Clayton,
a leadership development program established in 1972 that has engaged over 975 emerging
and existing leaders in a ten-month program that broadens their knowledge of community
issues, sharpens their leadership skills, and challenges them and others to seek solutions to
those issues affecting our communities; and
WHEREAS, chamber members are invited to participate each year in the Clayton County
Day at the state capitol to meet with our state leaders during the legislative session, discuss
legislative priorities that are important to their business and the county, and see our state
government in action.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
the members of this body commend the Clayton County Government, the Clayton County
Chamber of Commerce, and the ATL Airport Chamber on their distinguished leadership and
recognize February 6, 2025, as Clayton County Day at the state capitol.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the
Clayton County Government, the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce, and the ATL
Airport Chamber.
