By: Representatives Schofield of the 63rd, Glaize of the 67th, Davis of the 87th, Scott of the
76th, and Cannon of the 58th
A RESOLUTION
Commending and congratulating Ms. Donehoo of Benjamin Banneker High School on being
named Teacher of the Year; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, excellence in education depends on dedicated educators such as Ms. Donehoo,
who has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to fostering academic success and
inspiring students; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Donehoo was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, where she graduated
from Saint Pius X Catholic High School; and
WHEREAS, she earned a full athletic scholarship to play Division 1 soccer at Georgia
Southern University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English before pursuing
graduate work; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Donehoo accepted the American Literature Association's (ALA) Graduate
Fellowship, pursued a master's degree in English at Georgia Southern University, and served
as the ALA's Executive Assistant, organizing and planning conferences in cities across the
United States, including Chicago, New Orleans, Boston, Savannah, and San Francisco; and
WHEREAS, during graduate school, she conducted archival research on Ernest Hemingway
at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library in Boston, Massachusetts, and presented her
work at the 28th International Hemingway Conference in Paris, France, in 2018; and
WHEREAS, after graduating summa cum laude, Ms. Donehoo began her teaching career at
Benjamin Banneker High School, where she has taught literature for the past seven years;
and
WHEREAS, Ms. Donehoo furthered her education by earning a master's degree in teaching
from Western Governors University in May 2024; and
WHEREAS, her tireless dedication to education, her outstanding achievements, and her
commitment to her students have earned her the distinguished honor of being named Teacher
of the Year at Benjamin Banneker High School.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
the members of this body commend Ms. Donehoo for her exceptional contributions to
education, congratulate her on being named Teacher of the Year at Benjamin Banneker High
School, and extend their most sincere best wishes for continued success in the future.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Ms.
Donehoo.
