A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Minister Dara Calleary on his outstanding public service; and
for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Minister Dara Calleary has long been recognized by the people of Ireland for
the vital role he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to the welfare
of his fellow citizens; and
WHEREAS, appointed on January 23, 2025, he currently serves as the Irish Minister for
Social Protection and Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht;
and
WHEREAS, prior to his current roles, he served as Minister of State for Trade Promotion,
Digital and Company Regulation in the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment,
and in 2020, he held the positions of Minister for Agriculture and Government Chief Whip;
and
WHEREAS, he has held several key roles in the Irish government during his distinguished
tenure, serving concurrently as Minister of State at the Department of Enterprise, Trade and
Employment with responsibility for Labour Affairs and as Minister of State at the
Department of the Taoiseach and the Department of Finance with responsibility for Public
Service Transformation from 2009 to 2011; and
WHEREAS, from 2018 to 2020, he served as Deputy Leader of Fianna Fáil, and he has also
served as Spokesperson on Justice, Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Public Expenditure and
Reform, and Social Protection; and
WHEREAS, as additional testament to his dedication to the people of Ireland, he has further
served as a Teachta Dála for Mayo since first being elected in the 2007 General Election; and
WHEREAS, Minister Dara Calleary's significant leadership, integrity, and commitment to
public service have earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues, constituents, and
fellow citizens; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this
remarkable and distinguished individual be appropriately recognized.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
the members of this body recognize and commend Minister Dara Calleary for his efficient,
effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service and extend the most sincere best wishes for
continued health and happiness.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to
Minister Dara Calleary.
