By: Representatives Byrd of the 20th, Ballinger of the 23rd, Jasperse of the 11th, Ridley of the
22nd, McDonald III of the 26th, and others
A RESOLUTION
Commending Fire Chief Eddie Robinson, the 2024 Georgia Fire Chief of the Year; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS, the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs has chosen Fire Chief Eddie Robinson
as the 2024 Georgia Fire Chief of the Year in recognition of his exemplary leadership and
dedication to both the fire service and the State of Georgia; and
WHEREAS, he received this distinguished honor during the 53rd Annual Firefighters
Recognition Day at the Georgia State Capitol, an event that celebrates excellence and
contributions within Georgia's fire service; and
WHEREAS, Chief Robinson began his fire service career in 1979 as a volunteer in his
hometown of Rock Hill, South Carolina, before relocating to Georgia, where he continued
his service with the Hickory Flat Volunteer Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, throughout his more than two decades with Cherokee County Fire &
Emergency Services, Chief Robinson has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to
excellence, serving as Safety Officer in 2001, Division Chief of Training in 2009, Assistant
Fire Chief in 2011, and ultimately Fire Chief in 2022 following the retirement of his mentor,
Fire Chief Tim Prather; and
WHEREAS, his distinguished leadership has significantly advanced Cherokee County Fire
& Emergency Services, fostering improvements in operational efficiency, training, and
community safety to better serve the citizens of Cherokee County; and
WHEREAS, beyond his professional contributions, Chief Robinson is a graduate of the
Leadership Cherokee program, serving as its Chair in 2008 and participating on its steering
committee, and he has led the Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services Explorer Post
469 to numerous accolades at the annual Winterfest competitions; and
WHEREAS, he has further been instrumental in organizing Cherokee County's annual Patriot
Day Ceremony, held each September in remembrance of September 11, 2001, ensuring that
the sacrifices of first responders and military personnel are honored; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this outstanding individual be
appropriately recognized during this special time.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
the members of this body commend Fire Chief Eddie Robinson, the 2024 Georgia Fire Chief
of the Year, and express best wishes for future health and happiness.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Fire
Chief Eddie Robinson.
