## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A Georgia House resolution formally commends William Wright, longtime emergency communications director for Barrow County, for his public service and marks his retirement.

### Plain-language summary

This is a ceremonial resolution from the Georgia House of Representatives, not a change to state law. It recognizes William Wright, who served as emergency communications director for Barrow County Emergency Communications, for his decades of work coordinating emergency response during disasters such as the 1990 flood in McCaysville, the 1993 Fannin County blizzard, the 2000 Gilmer County ice storm, and the 2024 Apalachee High School shooting.
The resolution congratulates Wright on his retirement and directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to prepare a copy of the resolution for him. It does not create any new rules, funding, or requirements; its only effect is the formal commendation itself.

### What it does

- Formally recognizes and commends William Wright for his public service as Barrow County's emergency communications director.
- Congratulates Wright on his retirement and wishes him continued health and happiness.
- Directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to prepare a copy of the resolution for distribution to Wright.
- Creates no new law, funding, or regulatory requirement; the resolution's only effect is the commendation itself.

### Who it affects

The resolution directly names and honors William Wright, the former emergency communications director for Barrow County Emergency Communications. It has no legal or practical effect on other Georgians, agencies, or businesses.

### Why it matters

The resolution has no effect on Georgia law, funding, or public policy. Its significance is symbolic: it is an official statement by the Georgia House of Representatives recognizing one public servant's career, including his role during several major emergencies in the state.

### Key provisions

- The resolution recites Wright's career highlights, including his response to four disasters spanning 1990 to 2024.
- It resolves that House members commend Wright for his service and congratulate him on his retirement.
- It further resolves that the Clerk of the House of Representatives must provide a copy of the resolution to Wright.
