House Resolution 377 By: Representatives McDonald III of the 26th, Persinger of the 119th, Efstration of the 104th, Gaines of the 120th, and Wiedower of the 121st A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending William Wright on his outstanding public service; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, William Wright has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and WHEREAS, he has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community and state, as evidenced dramatically by his superlative service as the emergency communications director of Barrow County Emergency Communications; and WHEREAS, throughout his distinguished career, he has provided critical emergency management coordination during several local and federally-declared disasters, including the Flood of 1990 in McCaysville/Copper Hill, Tennessee; the Blizzard of 1993 in Fannin County; the Ice Storm of 2000 in Gilmer County; and most recently, the tragic Apalachee High School shooting in September 2024; and WHEREAS, he has further overseen the coordination, management, and operations of the county's Public Safety Answering Point, managed the Barrow County P25 Public Safety Radio System, and ensured departmental compliance with state and federal regulations; and WHEREAS, his significant organizational and leadership talents, remarkable patience and diplomacy, keen sense of vision, and sensitivity to the needs of the citizens of this state have earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and associates; and WHEREAS, William Wright has served with honor and distinction, and his vision and unyielding commitment to the safety of his fellow citizens will be sorely missed upon the occasion of his retirement; and WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend William Wright for his efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to the State of Georgia; congratulate him upon the grand occasion of his retirement; and extend the most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to William Wright.
