137th, and Smith of the 138th
A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Reverend Dr. Michael Wayne Sherman Sr. on the occasion
of his tenth pastoral anniversary; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. Michael Wayne Sherman Sr. has demonstrated his commitment
to teaching the Gospel, witnessing Christ through word and deed, and addressing the
physical, psychological, intellectual, and spiritual needs of others; and
WHEREAS, he accepted the call to preach the Gospel in June 1996 and has since provided
more than 25 years of pastoral leadership to the congregations of Friendship Baptist Church
in Calhoun, Simpson Road Baptist Church in Atlanta, and Living Faith Church in Mableton;
and
WHEREAS, this year, Reverend Dr. Michael Wayne Sherman Sr. will celebrate the tenth
anniversary of his call to serve as pastor of Wynnton Hill Baptist Church in Columbus,
Georgia; and
WHEREAS, his vision and direction have helped Wynnton Hill Baptist Church grow in size
and influence, uplifting the community like the light of Bethlehem and serving as a spiritual
leader and place for fellowship; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. Michael Wayne Sherman Sr. has further served for 20 years in
the General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia Inc. as the former Home Missions
Director and the current Director of Music; and
WHEREAS, he has traveled throughout the nation and the world to share the Good News of
Jesus, preaching in the National and Progressive Baptist Conventions as well as
internationally in Meiningen and Frankfurt, Germany; Czechoslovakia; Liberia; Africa; and
Haiti; and
WHEREAS, the unmatched spiritual assistance offered by Reverend Dr. Michael Wayne
Sherman Sr. is a source of strength and direction for persons in all walks of life; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this enduring example of God's message
of peace and love be recognized and congratulated for his innumerable good works rendered
on behalf of persons in need.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
the members of this body recognize and commend Reverend Dr. Michael Wayne Sherman
Sr. upon the wonderful occasion of his tenth pastoral anniversary and extend best wishes for
many more years of successful fellowship and leadership.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to
Reverend Dr. Michael Wayne Sherman Sr.
