House Resolution 413 By: Representative Au of the 50th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Communities in Schools of Atlanta; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, Communities in Schools of Atlanta (CIS of Atlanta) places caring adults inside schools to create a consistent academic, emotional, and financial support system to help students stay in school and graduate; and WHEREAS, CIS of Atlanta's mission is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to remain in school and achieve success in life by collaborating with teachers, parents, and community partners to meet each student's unique needs; and WHEREAS, CIS of Atlanta currently serves students across six metro Atlanta school districts—Atlanta Public Schools, Fulton County, DeKalb County, Decatur City Schools, Clayton County, and Griffin-Spalding County—by providing essential services that foster a positive school environment and address school-wide risk factors; and WHEREAS, among the 49,000 students served during the 2023-2024 school year, those receiving intensive individualized support from CIS of Atlanta totaled 3,914, with 99 percent remaining in school and 98 percent graduating or being promoted to the next grade level, surpassing the average by 14 percent; and WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this outstanding organization be appropriately honored. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend Communities in Schools of Atlanta for its tremendous service to the youth of metro Atlanta and extend best wishes for continued success. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Communities in Schools of Atlanta.
