By: Representatives Dickey of the 134th, Stinson of the 150th, and Ballard of the 147th
A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Nya Aaliyah Floyd; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Nya Aaliyah Floyd, a distinguished and accomplished young woman from
Lithonia, Georgia, has demonstrated exceptional academic achievement, leadership, and
dedication to service throughout her educational journey; and
WHEREAS, as a first-generation college student, she earned an associate degree in business
administration from Herzing University with an outstanding 3.9 GPA and is currently
pursuing a Bachelor of Science in agriculture at Fort Valley State University, with plans to
graduate this year and pursue her passion for working with animals; and
WHEREAS, deeply committed to student engagement and community service, she is an
active member of the Truth Poetry Club, New Student Orientation Leaders, Fort Valley State
University's Choir, Royal Elite Modeling Troupe, and Miss Mary Magdalene; and
WHEREAS, she has further distinguished herself through membership in esteemed
organizations, having been initiated into the Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity,
Incorporated, Phi Zeta Chapter in Spring 2023 as well as the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority,
Incorporated, Eta Chapter in Spring 2024; and
WHEREAS, her leadership and poise have earned her numerous prestigious titles, including
serving as the 87th Miss Fort Valley State University and being crowned the 39th Miss
National Black College Alumni Hall of Fame; and
WHEREAS, she previously served with distinction as the 2023-2024 Miss Junior on the Fort
Valley State University Royal Court and as Miss Black for the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity,
Incorporated, Gamma Zeta Chapter; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this
remarkable and distinguished student leader be appropriately honored.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
the members of this body recognize and commend Nya Aaliyah Floyd for her exceptional
achievements, leadership, and contributions to her community as well as extend the most
sincere best wishes for continued success in all her future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Nya
Aaliyah Floyd.
