A RESOLUTION
Recognizing Women's Golf Week in the State of Georgia; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, the number of women playing and enjoying golf in Georgia is increasing at a
rapid pace; and
WHEREAS, the popularity of golf among Georgia women is at an all-time high and still
climbing; and
WHEREAS, according to the National Golf Foundation, 23 percent of all golfers are women;
and
WHEREAS, the first week of April shall forever be known annually in the State of Georgia
as Women's Golf Week.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ENACTED BY THE GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that the members of this body:
(1) Designate the first week of April of each year as Women's Golf Week in the State of
Georgia; and
(2) Respectfully request the Governor to issue annually a proclamation recognizing the
first week of April in the State of Georgia as Women's Golf Week and call upon the
people in the State of Georgia to observe the week with appropriate programs and
activities.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to
Governor Brian Kemp and the public and press.
