House Resolution 482 By: Representatives Gilliard of the 162nd, Stephens of the 164th, and Williams of the 168th A RESOLUTION Honoring the life and memory of Esther Perkins-Frazier; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens with the passing of Esther Perkins-Frazier on January 14, 2025; and WHEREAS, Esther Perkins-Frazier was born on March 3, 1956, in Savannah, Georgia, a beloved daughter of Earl Sr. and Juanita Perkins; and WHEREAS, an exemplary academic, she graduated with honors from the Savannah School of Interior Decorating and Design in 1976 and earned multiple certifications in early childhood education; and WHEREAS, during her distinguished 12-year-long career at WSOK Radio/WLVH Radio, she served as an announcer, news director, public relations director, and promotions director, using her platform to promote Gospel music and strengthen community engagement; and WHEREAS, her impact on Gospel music included leadership roles in church music ministries and 25 years of service as part of the Grammy-nominated Savannah Community Choir, appearing on 12 nationally distributed albums; and WHEREAS, her passion for education touched the lives of countless students through her work as a kindergarten teacher, paraprofessional, mentor, and tutor in Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools and local educational programs; and WHEREAS, her tireless advocacy for those in need was evident through her founding of Share the Harvest Community Food Pantry & Clothes Closet, her work in outreach ministries for the homeless, and her volunteer efforts with numerous charitable organizations dedicated to supporting women, children, and families; and WHEREAS, Esther Perkins-Frazier was blessed with two remarkable children, Bynikini and Jacquarze, as well as one wonderful granddaughter, Eliyanah; and WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous woman, Esther Perkins-Frazier will long be remembered for her love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing her. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Esther Perkins-Frazier and express their deepest and most sincere regret at her passing. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the family of Esther Perkins-Frazier.
