WHEREAS, Manuel Estevan Paez Teran was a passionate environmentalist who was committed to their advocacy for nature and envisioned a more just world that cared for people and the environment; and WHEREAS, Manuel Teran lived a life dedicated to that vision, working tirelessly to protect forests and nature; and WHEREAS, on January 18, 2023, Manuel Teran was killed in Atlanta while peacefully protesting for the environment; and WHEREAS, on January 18, 2025, family, friends, and supporters will gather to honor the second anniversary of their passing; and WHEREAS, we must honor the life of Manuel Teran and support the environmentalists who continue this important work; and WHEREAS, we must continue Manuel Teran's legacy of fighting for justice, peace, and the preservation of our environment, which is essential for life on Earth.
