A RESOLUTION
Recognizing January 18, 2025, as Manuel Estevan Paez Teran Day; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Manuel Estevan Paez Teran was a passionate environmentalist who was
committed to their advocacy for nature and envisioned a more just world that cared for
people and the environment; and
WHEREAS, Manuel Teran lived a life dedicated to that vision, working tirelessly to protect
forests and nature; and
WHEREAS, on January 18, 2023, Manuel Teran was killed in Atlanta while peacefully
protesting for the environment; and
WHEREAS, on January 18, 2025, family, friends, and supporters will gather to honor the
second anniversary of their passing; and
WHEREAS, we must honor the life of Manuel Teran and support the environmentalists who
continue this important work; and
WHEREAS, we must continue Manuel Teran's legacy of fighting for justice, peace, and the
preservation of our environment, which is essential for life on Earth.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
the members of this body recognize January 18, 2025, as Manuel Estevan Paez Teran Day
in honor of their life's work to protect our environment and build a better future for all.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the
public and the press.
