By: Representatives Adeyina of the 110th, Beckles of the 96th, Berry of the 56th, Bell of the
75th, and Cannon of the 58th
A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Neil "Iwer" George; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, hailing from South Trinidad, Neil 'D Boss Iwer' George is one of Trinidad and
Tobago's most prolific cultural and Soca icons; and
WHEREAS, since the inception of his career, in 1987, Iwer George's name has been
synonymous with the Carnival season; and
WHEREAS, he performs at all the major carnival events in Trinidad & Tobago such as Hyatt
Lime, UWI All Inclusive, I UP, Jam naked, Lara All Inclusive, Candy Coated Events,
Passage to Asia, Army Fete, Yuma events, Dimanche Gras, Jouvert Carnival Monday and
Parade of the Bands on the road carnival Tuesday, as well as for numerous prestigious
corporate events; and
WHEREAS, he has performed regionally and internationally in Jamaica, Grenada, St. Kitts
and Nevis, New York, Toronto, Bahamas, Germany, Barbados, Cayman Islands, Miami, and
on the Uber Soca Cruise; and
WHEREAS, most recently, Iwer George was an actor, writer, and executive producer of the
movie Soca Prison; and
WHEREAS, his exceptional musical talents have been recognized though numerous awards,
including earning the title of Soca Monarch in 2002, 2003, 2007, and 2020, as well as
winning both the titles of International Soca Monarch & Road March in 2020; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the accomplishments of this talented and
devoted musician be appropriately recognized.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
the members of this body recognize and commend the significant cultural and musical
contributions of Neil "Iwer" George and extend their best wishes for his continued success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Neil
"Iwer" George.
