A RESOLUTION
Honoring the life and memory of Larry Max Cox; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens
with the passing of Larry Max Cox on October 4, 2024; and
WHEREAS, Larry Max Cox safeguarded his community as a Gwinnett County police officer
in the 1970s and served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and liberty with the United
States Army, valiantly and courageously protecting his fellow Americans; and
WHEREAS, he was an active member of the Rotary Club of Madison County, the
Cattlemen's Association of Madison County, the Chamber of Commerce, the T J and Friends
Cancer Foundation, the Food Bank of Madison County, and Food to Kids, selflessly giving
his time and talents to many causes and nonprofits; and
WHEREAS, he was instrumental in implementing a scholarship program for high school
seniors in Madison County and was a generous contributor to the fund, ensuring greater
educational opportunities for local students; and
WHEREAS, he additionally served as a mentor to students at Ila Elementary School, making
a profound difference in their lives by helping to improve their reading skills and fostering
a love for learning; and
WHEREAS, Larry Max Cox enjoyed a 27-year-long professional career with UPS, where
he worked his way up from driver to vice president of telecommunications; and
WHEREAS, he was united in love and marriage to his wife, Linda, with whom he shared 55
wonderful years, and the two were blessed with an outstanding son, Jason, and three
cherished grandchildren, Jared, Justin, and Kathryn; and
WHEREAS, a man of deep love for the land, he found great joy in his farm and cattle, often
spending his days on his tractor or caring for his livestock; and
WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous man, Larry Max Cox will long be remembered
for his love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who had the great
fortune of knowing him.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Larry Max Cox and
express their deepest and most sincere regret at his passing.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the
family of Larry Max Cox.
