## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A Georgia House resolution commends the St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee, its Chairman Timothy P. Mahoney, and Grand Marshal James G. (Jay) Burke III for organizing Savannah's 2025 St. Patrick's Day Parade.

### Plain-language summary

This House resolution recognizes the volunteers and leaders behind Savannah's 2025 St. Patrick's Day Parade, which marks the 201st time the celebration has been held in the city. The resolution notes the parade's history, tracing back to 1824 when the Hibernian Society of Savannah began the tradition, and credits the St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee, formed in 1926, with keeping the celebration going for 98 years.
The resolution formally commends the Committee's members, Chairman Timothy P. Mahoney, and 2025 Grand Marshal James G. (Jay) Burke III for their work organizing the parade and their contributions to Chatham County and Georgia. It directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to prepare copies of the resolution for distribution to those honored. The resolution does not change any Georgia law.

### What it does

- Formally recognizes and commends the members of the St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee for organizing the 2025 Savannah parade.
- Honors Chairman Timothy P. Mahoney by name for his leadership of the parade committee.
- Recognizes James G. (Jay) Burke III as the Grand Marshal of the 2025 St. Patrick's Day Parade.

### Who it affects
