## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A Georgia House resolution formally commends Araceli Barrientos, a Gwinnett County area community volunteer, for her work supporting families of children with autism and public health outreach in Latino communities.

### Plain-language summary

This is a ceremonial resolution from the Georgia House of Representatives, not a change to state law. It recognizes Araceli Barrientos for her community service, including helping form Familias Azules, a support group for families of children with autism, serving as a resource parent with Parent to Parent of Georgia, and working as a health promoter with the Lifting Latinx Voices Initiative, where she has spoken to more than 100 women about breast and cervical cancer, birth control, and self-care.
The resolution also notes her service with groups such as Friends of the Community, Bright Boy Foundation, and Lucky Shoals Community Association. It resolves that the House commends her for her public service and directs the Clerk of the House to send her a copy of the resolution as a keepsake.

### What it does

- Formally recognizes and commends Araceli Barrientos for her community service and leadership in Georgia.
- States the House's praise for her work with Familias Azules, Parent to Parent of Georgia, and the Lifting Latinx Voices Initiative.
- Directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to prepare and send her a copy of the resolution.
- Carries no funding, penalty, or change to Georgia law; it is purely a ceremonial statement.

### Who it affects

The resolution directly names and honors Araceli Barrientos. It also references organizations she has worked with, including Familias Azules, Parent to Parent of Georgia, the Lifting Latinx Voices Initiative, Friends of the Community, Bright Boy Foundation, and Lucky Shoals Community Association.

### Why it matters

The resolution has no legal effect and changes no Georgia law; its significance is symbolic, giving official recognition from the state legislature to one person's community service, particularly her work supporting families affected by autism and disability, and public health education among Latina women.

### Key provisions

- The whereas clauses describe Barrientos's work forming Familias Azules and her roles with Parent to Parent of Georgia and the Lifting Latinx Voices Initiative.
- The resolving clause commends Barrientos for her public service to the State of Georgia and wishes her continued health and happiness.
- A further resolving clause directs the Clerk of the House to make a copy available for distribution to Barrientos.
