House Resolution 536 By: Representatives Lim of the 98th, Santos of the 117th, Cannon of the 58th, Beckles of the 96th, and Sanchez of the 42nd A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending the contributions of Leslie Palomino; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, Leslie Palomino serves as one of the youngest Latina state directors in the state of Georgia, representing Poder Latinx, a national civic and social justice nonprofit organization advocating on behalf of the Latino community in the United States; and WHEREAS, Leslie has long been recognized by the community for the important role that she has played in leadership and her deep personal commitment to empowering the community to become active actors of democracy in Georgia; and WHEREAS, she has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of her time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of her community and state, as evidenced by her superlative service as the Georgia State Programs Director for Poder Latinx; and WHEREAS, as a Georgia native who grew up in Gwinnett County, she has built an extensive background in political campaigning, legislative advocacy, and community grassroots organizing; and WHEREAS, Leslie, a proud product of Gwinnett County Public Schools, earned her bachelor's degree in Political Science with a minor in Journalism from Georgia State University; and WHEREAS, Leslie is a champion for change who is deeply passionate about increasing the civic participation of Latinos in Georgia, and works tirelessly to empower and engage the next generation of leaders to become civically engaged and politically active changemakers; and WHEREAS, she exemplifies exceptional strength of character and has an outstanding reputation for integrity, wisdom, and compassion; and WHEREAS, Leslie was recognized in 2024 as one of the 50 Most Influential Latinos in Georgia by the Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce; and WHEREAS, Leslie has served with honor and distinction with Poder Latinx, and her vision and unyielding commitment to empowering her fellow citizens have set the standard for activism and civic engagement; and WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments and contributions of this distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend Leslie Palomino for her effective leadership, dedication, and service to the State of Georgia and extend the most sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Leslie Palomino.
