A RESOLUTION
Honoring the lives of Mrs. Ruby Floyd Grogan and Mr. Loy James Grogan and dedicating1
an intersection in their memory; and for other purposes.2
WHEREAS, Mrs. Ruby Floyd Grogan was born in Heardsville, Georgi a, on August 23,3
1920, the beloved daughter of W.R. Floyd and Ethel Roper Floyd; and4
WHEREAS, Mr. Loy James Grogan was born in Dawsonville, Georgia, on January 5, 1914,5
the beloved son of Roscoe Lafayette Grogan and Lona Fouts Grogan; and6
WHEREAS, Mr. Grogan established L.J. Grocery in 1934 and after the two were united in7
love and marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Grogan ran the daily operations of the store; and8
WHEREAS, over the years, L.J. Grocery became an institution of the community in Matt,9
Georgia, providing necessary groceries and gasoline to an underserved community; and10
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Grogan exhibited extraordinary devotion and compassion to their11
neighbors, often providing food at no cost to families in need; and12

WHEREAS, as pillars of their community, it is abundantly fittin g and proper that these13
remarkable and distinguished Georgians be appropriately recogni zed by dedicating an14
intersection in their memory.15
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ENACTED BY THE GENERAL16
ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that the intersection of State Route 369 and Bannister Road in17
Forsyth County is dedicated as the Ruby and Loy Grogan Memorial Intersection.18
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation is authorized and19
directed to erect and maintain appropriate signs dedicating the Ruby and Loy Grogan20
Memorial Intersection.21
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized22
and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to the23
Grogan family and to the Department of Transportation.24
