## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A Georgia House resolution formally recognizes and commends U.S. Senator Raphael G. Warnock for his public service, ministry, and legislative work on behalf of Georgians.

### Plain-language summary

This resolution is a ceremonial statement from the Georgia House of Representatives honoring U.S. Senator Raphael G. Warnock. It recounts his history as Georgia's first Black U.S. Senator, elected in 2021 and reelected in 2022, his committee assignments in the U.S. Senate, and his work on issues like healthcare access, voting rights, gun violence, and economic opportunity. It also notes his role as senior pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta since 2005.
The resolution does not change any Georgia law. It simply states that the House recognizes and commends Senator Warnock for his service and directs the Clerk of the House to prepare a copy of the resolution to be given to him.

### What it does

- Formally states that the Georgia House of Representatives recognizes and commends Senator Raphael G. Warnock for his public service.
- Recites biographical and legislative background about Warnock, including his Senate committee work and his role as a pastor.
- Directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to prepare and distribute a copy of the resolution to Senator Warnock.
- Creates no new law, funding, or regulatory requirement; it is a symbolic honor rather than a policy change.

### Who it affects

The resolution directly names and honors U.S. Senator Raphael G. Warnock. It does not impose obligations on any other group of Georgians, agencies, or businesses; its only administrative effect is a task for the Clerk of the House.

### Why it matters

Because this is a commendation resolution rather than legislation, it has no practical effect on Georgia law, funding, or residents' daily lives. Its significance is symbolic: a public, official statement from the state House recognizing a sitting U.S. Senator's record of service.

### Key provisions

- The whereas clauses describe Warnock's election as Georgia's first Black U.S. Senator in 2021 and his reelection in December 2022.
- The whereas clauses list his Senate committee assignments, including Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry; Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs; Finance; and Special Committee on Aging.
- The resolving clause formally commends Warnock for his public service and extends best wishes for continued success.
- A further resolving clause directs the Clerk of the House to make a copy available for distribution to Warnock.
