## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A Georgia House resolution formally commends U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff for his legislative work on infrastructure, veterans' care, and public safety, without changing any state law.

### Plain-language summary

This is a ceremonial resolution from the Georgia House of Representatives, not a law. It recognizes and thanks U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff for actions he has taken in the U.S. Senate, including work on economic development, broadband and infrastructure funding, investigations into mistreatment in privatized military housing and federal prisons, a cap on insulin costs for seniors, and support for veterans' mental health care.
The resolution does not create, change, or repeal any Georgia statute. Its only operative actions are a formal statement of commendation from House members and a directive that the Clerk of the House prepare a copy of the resolution to send to Senator Ossoff.

### What it does

- Formally states that the Georgia House of Representatives recognizes and commends Senator Jon Ossoff for his public service.
- Lists a series of actions attributed to Ossoff in the U.S. Senate, such as infrastructure funding and veterans' health care legislation, as the basis for the commendation.
- Directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to prepare and distribute a copy of the resolution to Senator Ossoff.
- Does not create any new Georgia law, funding, requirement, or penalty.

### Who it affects

This resolution directly names only U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff and the Clerk of the House of Representatives, who is directed to send him a copy. It has no legal effect on any other Georgians, agencies, or businesses.

### Why it matters

Because this is a commendatory resolution rather than legislation, it has no direct effect on Georgia law, funding, or daily life for residents. Its practical effect is limited to the House's official record and a ceremonial copy sent to Senator Ossoff.

### Key provisions

- The whereas clauses recite Ossoff's Senate record, including manufacturing investment, broadband and infrastructure funding, and coastal resilience projects.
- Additional whereas clauses cite investigations into military housing conditions, federal prison corruption, and mistreatment of women in federal detention.
- The resolved clause formally commends Ossoff for his service to the State of Georgia and wishes him continued health and happiness.
- A further resolved clause directs the Clerk of the House to prepare a copy of the resolution for distribution to Ossoff.
