## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A Georgia House resolution formally commends Dr. Michelle Au, an Emory-St. Joseph's Hospital anesthesiologist and state legislator, for her medical career and public service.

### Plain-language summary

This resolution is a ceremonial statement from the Georgia House of Representatives honoring Dr. Michelle Au, an anesthesiologist and member of the General Assembly. It recounts her education, her medical career, her time in the Georgia State Senate from 2021 to 2023 as the first Asian woman elected to that body, and awards she received for legislative work on gun safety and children's health.

The resolution also describes a personal story in which Dr. Au helped direct urgent medical care for the mother of one of her House colleagues. It closes by formally commending her public service and directing the Clerk of the House to give her a copy of the resolution. It does not change any Georgia law.

### What it does

- Formally recognizes, commends, and congratulates Dr. Michelle Au for her medical career and legislative service.
- Directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to prepare and distribute a copy of the resolution to Dr. Au.
- Creates no new statute, funding, or legal requirement, as a commendation resolution has no regulatory effect.

### Who it affects

The resolution directly names and honors Dr. Michelle Au. It also references Representative Teddy Reese and his mother, Mrs. Carrie Prosser, in describing a personal anecdote about medical care.

### Why it matters

This is a symbolic honor with no legal or financial effect on Georgians. Its practical significance is limited to public recognition of Dr. Au's medical and legislative record within the official record of the House.

### Key provisions

- The whereas clauses detail Dr. Au's education, medical career, and prior service in the Georgia State Senate from 2021 to 2023.
- The resolved clause formally commends and congratulates Dr. Au for her public service to the State of Georgia.
- A further resolved clause directs the Clerk of the House to make a copy available for distribution to Dr. Au.
