A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Dr. Jose A. Marquez-Leon; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, Dr. Jose A. Marquez-Leon has demonstrated exceptional leadership as the2
National President and CEO of TechLatino: The National Associat ion of Latinos in3
Information Sciences and Technology Association (LISTA), an organization he founded in4
1997 to advocate for Latino representation in the technology industry; and5
WHEREAS, under his leadership, TechLatino: LISTA has developed programs to guide the6
Latino community from the schoolroom to the boardroom, introduc ing technology into7
classrooms, promoting careers in information technology and sci ence, facilitating8
professional development through certification training and job -matching programs,9
leveraging online communications for continued collaboration, a nd recognizing Latinos10
making a difference in the IT industry; and11
WHEREAS, Dr. Marquez-Leon serves as Chairman of 16 TechLatino: LISTA Councils12
nationwide and has spearheaded the organization's annual humanitarian initiatives, bringing13
technology to disadvantaged communities in rural cities and towns across the Caribbean and14
South America; and15

WHEREAS, prior to founding TechLatino: LISTA, he established Hispanics in Information16
Technology and Telecommunications (HITT) in 1997 to address the l a c k o f L a t i n o17
representation in the United States IT and telecommunications workforce; and18
WHEREAS, he further serves as CEO of the Georgia Latino Film Alliance and International19
Film Festival and has been appointed to both the Gwinnett Film and Tourism Committee and20
the Norcross Public Arts Commission; and21
WHEREAS, his contributions have earned him numerous accolades, including the Politics22
360 Game Changers Award (2019), Negocios Now President's Award (2018), Hispanic23
Trends Magazine Technology Trendsetter award (2007), and more; and24
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkab le individual be25
appropriately honored during this special time.26
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that27
the members of this body recognize and commend Dr. Jose A. Marq uez-Leon for his28
outstanding career contributions and extend best wishes for his continued success.29
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized30
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Dr.31
Jose A. Marquez-Leon.32
