## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A Georgia House resolution formally recognizes Coach Keith Maloof, the longtime Norcross High School football coach, on his retirement after a decades-long coaching career.

### Plain-language summary

This resolution is a ceremonial honor from the Georgia House of Representatives rather than a change to state law. It recognizes Coach Keith Maloof, who coached football for more than 40 years and served as head coach for 29 seasons, including 26 seasons leading Norcross High School's team from 1999 to 2024.
The resolution highlights his overall coaching record of 232-103, his status as the winningest head coach in Gwinnett County history, and the NFL players he mentored, including Alvin Kamara and Lorenzo Carter. It also notes his 2023 Atlanta Falcons Coach of the Year honor. The House resolves to commend Maloof on his retirement and directs the Clerk of the House to provide him with a copy of the resolution.

### What it does

- Formally commends Coach Keith Maloof on the occasion of his retirement from coaching.
- Recites his career record, including his overall 232-103 coaching record and 210-92 record at Norcross High School.
- Directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to prepare and distribute a copy of the resolution to Coach Maloof.
- Creates no new legal requirements, funding, or penalties, as it is a ceremonial resolution rather than a law.

### Who it affects

The resolution directly names and honors Coach Keith Maloof. It also references Norcross High School's football program and several former players who went on to the NFL, though it does not impose any obligations on them or on any state agency.

### Why it matters

The resolution has no practical legal effect on Georgians; it is a public, official expression of appreciation from the Georgia House of Representatives for one coach's career, intended to mark his retirement and record for the historical record.

### Key provisions

- The whereas clauses recount Maloof's career: over 40 years coaching, 29 as head coach, and 26 seasons at Norcross High School without a losing regular season record.
- States his overall coaching record as 232-103 and his Norcross record as 210-92, calling him the winningest head coach in Gwinnett County history.
- Names former players who advanced to the NFL under his mentorship, including Alvin Kamara, Lorenzo Carter, Jake Camarda, Max Garcia, Brice Butler, and Robert Beal.
- Notes his 2023 Atlanta Falcons Coach of the Year recognition.
- The resolving clause commends Maloof on his retirement and wishes him continued health and happiness.
- Directs the Clerk of the House to make a copy of the resolution available for distribution to Maloof.
