By: Representatives Chastain of the 7th and Wade of the 9th

A RESOLUTION

Congratulating the Fannin County Lady Rebels basketball team for winning the 2025 GHSA Class A Division I State Basketball Championship; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Fannin County Lady Rebels basketball team has established and maintained a proud tradition of excellence with equal emphases on character and academics; and

WHEREAS, the team brought special recognition to its school and to Fannin County by winning the 2025 GHSA Class A Division I State Basketball Championship against the Banks County Lady Leopards with a final score of 51-42; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Rebels secured their victory through exceptional execution and disciplined control, overcoming a strong defensive press from their opponents while turning key stops into scoring opportunities; and

WHEREAS, standout performances included crucial contributions from Maggie Ledford, Izzie Jabaley, and Reese Lewis, whose early fourth-quarter offensive surge helped propel the Lady Rebels to victory, as well as tremendous defensive efforts from Avi Ethington, Callie Ensley, Emma Buchanan, Emma Holloway, and Albany Cole, which limited Banks County's top scorers well below their season average; and

WHEREAS, the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding athletic ability, dedication, hard work, and unity of purpose and spirit demonstrated by each team member as well as the astute direction of Head Coach Ryan Chastain; and

WHEREAS, as this magnificent team earned its well-deserved reputation for excellence by performing with courage and precision over months of training and competition, it is abundantly proper to call them champions.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body congratulate the Fannin County Lady Rebels basketball team for winning the 2025 GHSA Class A Division I State Basketball Championship and extend best wishes for their continued success.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Fannin County Lady Rebels basketball team.
