A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending the Chien Hong School of Kong Fu; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, the Chien Hong School of Kong Fu's lion dance performance at the Georgia state capitol in 2024 represents the beginning of an annual tradition of celebrating the ancient art form; and
WHEREAS, the lion dance is a traditional dance form in Chinese and other Asian cultures meant to bring good luck and fortune; and
WHEREAS, this remarkable troupe is led by Shifu Gary Mitchell, who began his martial arts training in the early 1980s and has more than 40 years of Chinese martial arts experience; and
WHEREAS, the Chien Hong School of Kong Fu will be returning in 2025 to join in the capitol's second annual Lunar New Year celebration; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper to recognize this outstanding organization for its commitment to the continuation of this ancient art from.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend the Chien Hong School of Kong Fu for being the first lion dance troupe to ever perform at the Georgia state capitol and extend best wishes for continued success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Chien Hong School of Kong Fu.
